MISSION

– Work toward the sustainability of forests and the populations that live in these ecosystems.

– Provide pure, high quality products that meet the needs of our customers and contribute to people’s health.

Principles:

Integrity, Sustainability, Transparency

Sustainability through economic alternatives that preserve forest areas and respect the culture of local populations.

The creation of opportunities to explore non-timber forest resources is essential for the preservation of the Amazon rainforest. The gathering of seeds and the extraction of resins such as copaiba have been part of the indigenous culture and the culture of the traditional population since the times of the rubber cycles. The processing of these seeds to extract oil and butters is very important to prevent the impoverishment of the forest of these species, not to mention to generate income for these populations. Ucuuba, known as virola (Virola sebifera) has been cut and sold at absurdly low prices for the production of broomsticks and other purposes; murumuru (Astrocaryum murumuru) is sometimes felled in the management of açaí because there are no buyers of the murumuru seed; Açaí (Euterpe oleracea) is not managed in some areas because no one is interested in buying its palm heart (management allows for greater production and easier harvesting). Other species such as andiroba, copaiba and cumaru are felled for timber. Species such as babassu (Attalea speciosa), buçu (Manicaria saccifera), coconut (Erythroxylum deciduum), buriti (Maurithia vinifera), tucumã (Astrocaryum aculeatum), which contain valuable oils, are not appropriately explored, although there are areas that are extremely rich with these species. The correct form of exploitation could generate a recurring income that is greater than the income generated by the exploitation of wood for traditional populations, in addition to preserving the forest. GOA builds partnerships with cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies to enable the sustainability and optimization of the factories belonging to local communities. GOA’s role is to guarantee the quality of products, standardize packaging, enable efficient logistics, as well as guarantee the supply of the quantities required by customers, which may require purchase in several locations.
